Imation today announced that it has acquired the ProStor Systems. The acquisition includes the much celebrated unique storage solution InfiniVault among others products in ProStor’s product portfolio. The InfiniVault software will enable Imation to deliver future tiered storage solutions using RDX and other hard disk, optical, magnetic and solid state storage. Tandberg Data announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the RDX business from ProStor Systems and with this it will acquire the RDX business, including intellectual property rights. RDX technology is a disk-based removable storage system with portable cartridges that combines the benefits of tape—reliability, portability, archive life and low cost—with the performance, speed, random access and ease of use of hard disk technology. Tandberg Data will work closely together with current RDX license partners, to further grow the removable disk market through continued investment in R&D, sales and marketing of the RDX technology.Read More…
